2011 2012 Mercedes Benz SLK

The roadster enjoys an all-new body, bearing a resemblance undeniable with other members of the family Mercedes, the CLS-Class AMG and the SLS. The more angular lines, a grille right with the logo of the Mercedes-Benz star and oversized lights wrapped around the rear give the SLK a more aggressive look while defying the wind with a drag coefficient of 0, 30 (the current model has a Cx of 0.32).

SLK-Class offers a choice of three folding hardtops Power. The first is a painted metal roof, the second panel has a panoramic tinted glass, while the new roof MagicSky Control includes a glass panel can vary the degree of shade or light infiltrating the cockpit at the touch of a button.

A 4-cylinder, 1.8 liter and propels slk200 SLK250 base, producing 184 horsepower and 204, respectively. The North American versions of the SLK shun 4-cylinder for a V6 3.5-liter 302-horsepower, whose model designation is obviously the SLK350. The latter should 0-100 km / h in 5.6 seconds and reach a speed electronically limited to 248 km / h (155 mph).

2011 Porsche Cayman R

At Porsche, the tradition is still to go to the lake, alongside a hybrid Panamera under the spotlight. Slight, Geneva hosts the European premiere of the Cayman R. Light is right, seen in Stuttgart ...

Without being a novelty (it was released late 2010 in Los Angeles), the Cayman R, merits that one focuses on his first steps on the Old Continent. Since that time the purists, nostalgic for the 356 and911 of the first hour demanding a minimalist cut, concise answer ...

The new car is 55 kg lighter (over 120 lbs.) and is powered by a mid-mounted 3.4-litre six-cylinder boxer engine that makes 10 more horsepower (up to 330) than the Cayman S. The responsive part is delivered courtesy of a specially adapted sports chassis for an even more precise driving experience.

Weight savings were realized through the use of lightweight materials and doing without some of the comfort and convenience equipment found in many of today’s luxury cars. For example, the 19-inch wheel set on the Cayman R weighs a combined 40 kg (about 88 lbs.) or 10 kg per rim. An optional lithium ion battery reduces weight further. Also of note, interior door handles were removed in favour of ribbon door pulls.

2011 Mazda 2

It was launched for the first time in 2007 in Europe, Japan and Australia. With gasoline prices climbing ever, it is now our turn to receive the Mazda 2, the smallest of Mazda also supposed to contain a dose of "zoom-zoom". With fifty as "Car of the Year" in his chest, Mazda hopes now that the new girl will attract crowds in showrooms across Canada. Besides, did you know that Mazda has made more than 40% of its Canadian sales in Quebec in 2010? The issue is very important especially as the cousin of the Mazda 2, Ford Fiesta, arrived recently. And Mitsubishi Colt import the account soon! So it's a growing category and the winner will be whoever can offer in the most competitive price possible.
Mazda 2 is the GS that I had the pleasure to try and chance that this test was followed a few weeks that of the Mazda 3. The comparison was inevitable. The muzzle of the 2 is almost a copy of the 3 while the back is quite original. While the 3 Sport version could be called "family" sedan, the Mazda 2 is indeed a "hatchback" in itself. Sides "sculpted" wavelike dynamics give to all. The Mazda 2 comes in two trim levels or GX and GS in more than one edition Yozora more personalized. One group of options (Convenience) is available for the GX. GS, it receives all standard equipment.

It is easy to sit inside the Mazda 2 2011 thanks to large doors. The seats are comfortable but do not offer much thigh support. The dashboard is very plastic. Obviously, the asking price, the materials are of lower quality. Instrumentation is fairly simple: a big speedometer in the center flanked on the left and right of the tachometer, the onboard computer, it all fitted into the basket away from direct sunlight. It's the same principle for the central block: a small screen with buttons at the center of each side to control the audio system. Below, the three dials for ventilation. Finally, the shift lever integrated into the bottom of the central block can free up any space between the seats. By evening, everything is illuminated orange color. The audio system is also conventional AM and FM radio, it plays CDs and MP3s. An auxiliary jack is also standard equipment. In fact, only the number of speakers varies with models: GX 2 for 4 for the Convenience and 6 for the GS! The steering wheel controls are standard in the GS. The shift lever a little higher than usual was very easy. There are facilities a little surprising in this kind of car headlights with automatic ignition and windshield wiper rain sensor is standard on the GS. Do not switch the wipers to the AUTO position in winter could grill the wiper motor at startup. The rear seats are very good but offer no lateral support. The legroom is reasonable and the central square should be used in cases of extreme necessity. The trunk is good sized for this vehicle class and can be expanded by lowering the seat. However, impossible to have a perfectly flat floor. Furthermore, the loading sill is too high.

New Aston Martin Virage Coupe and Volante are presented

An untrained eye would definitely not be able to make a clear distinction between the new pair of cars from Aston Martin and the brand's other models. A resurrection of the Virage name for a new coupe and cabriolet that sit between the DB9 and DBS has been made by Aston Martin, and, as the company officially announced, the technology from the DBS was efficiently capitalized by the Virage and combined with the refinement and comfort found in the Rapide and DB9. The company's well-known 6.0-liter V12 engine matched to a six-speed Touchtronic II automatic transmission mounted on the transaxle, powers the soft-top Volante and the Virage Coupe. This powerplant delivers 517HP and 420 lb-ft in the DBS and 477HP and 433 lb-ft for the DB9, so it seems quite natural for the Virage's V12 to produce 497HP and 420 lb-ft of peak torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint is accomplished in only 4.6 seconds with the Virage being able to continue up to a maximum speed of 299 km/h, which translates into 188 mph. Just for the sake of comparing, the numbers for the 510HP DBS are 4.3 seconds and 307 km/h, while the 477HP DB9 reaches 4.8 seconds and 306 km/h, respectively. Standard Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes, Dynamic Stability Control system integrating bespoke settings as well as a new Adaptive Damping System with a specific tune, are featured by the Virage, which also adopts for the exterior a redesigned front bumper, a re-profiled rear bumper, different side sills, a fresh interpretation of Aston's side strake comprising six LEDs on the front wings, together with a new aluminum metal front grille with five horizontal vanes. High-quality materials were used for the interior of both Virage models, beginning with satellite navigation, cruise control, a 700W Aston Martin Premium Audio System incorporating Dolby Pro Logic II with full iPod integration, Bluetooth telephone preparation and colored piping. For the coupe form, the Virage will offer its customers the possibility of choosing a 2+2 or a two seater, and this latter option ensures a weight reduction together with a rear parcel shelf. After making its world debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March, the Virage is planned to go on sale shortly after.
